Too Expensive for China Made Plastic March 3, 2008 J. Moe (USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
To sum it up quickly, these puck lights are cheap, but they work. The body is made of cheap plastic, and painted chrome. You can scrap the chome off with a little effort and your finger nail if you were so inclined. The metal shield that surrounds the bulb is very thin stamped galvanized metal you can easily bend with your fingers. The bulbs themselves don't seem to have gone through any kind of quality testing. When I plugged mine in for the first time, only three of the four bulbs turned on. The filiment of the fourth bulb was only attached to the terminal on one end, so after a little bit of shaking I was able to get it to reattach and turn on. The heat build up seemed to keep it welded together and it hasn't detached yet. Also, the color light of all four bulbs are different, from a warm white, to almost a flourescent blue. The lights heat up quite a bit (expected), which heat the nearby air and give off a burning smell. In the end, they work, however $10+ per puck is more than what they're worth ($5-8 would be reasonable).
